Children's Programming.

Is it just me or has the quality of Children's programming gone WAY down hill since the majority of us were children? I mean seriously what is this crap? Where is the entertainment in these programs?  Being a father of a Six year old and an 18 Month old, not to mention two Teenage Sons that watch the same programming as our Six year old because she runs the house, I see a LOT of "kids shows" and man, I think I am getting dumber because of it.
Let's start with a couple of the ones I think are good for the kids, and I will explain why.
- "The Imagination Movers" These are four guys from the South that put this show together, and employs people from the New Orleans area providing employment for a region destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Kudos for that, but this show teaches problem solving, and love of music.
-"Thomas and Friends".  This show about a little tank engine and his friends in my opinion is one of the best children s shows on today, and I find myself watching with my kids. The show ALWAYS has a wonderful lesson.
-Not, just one show, but an entire channel known as "Sprout". When the Sprout channel is on I know that I don't have to worry about any of the content being shown. Except for one certain show that makes my blood boil and when it comes on everyone in the house yells, BARNEY IS ON QUICK CHANGE THE CHANNEL!!!
Yes I know there are many more, but I don't want to bore you, and that brings me to the shows that will never be on in my house and I will explain why.
- "Barney", as mentioned before this program makes my blood boil, and honestly think it was created by Pedophiles. Barney, a big purple pedophile dinosaur stalks children and does crafts with them in order to be able to rub up on them as he gives them "hugs".
- I will lump these shows together because I feel they all serve the same purpose of indoctrination of our Children to except illegal immigration and Communism .  "Dora the Explorer", "Diego" and "Ni Hao Kai Lan".
And like the good programming I could add many more to this list but you get the picture.

Now that brings me to the stuff that the kids probably should not watch, but since the parents can also enjoy it they luck out to peruse it's programming, that one especially being "Sponge Bob Squarepants". Yes I admit my kids love Sponge Bob, and at times the content is questionable but dang it, That show entertains the heck out of me!
One cool thing is it seems like all of the shows I loved as a kid are making a comeback in new forms, or in rerun. It is so great to me that I can sit with my kids and relive some of my childhood memories with the new versions such as GI-Joe, Transformers, Thundercats, the Smurfs, etc. Yeah I'm sure you can tell I'm a big kid at heart and I want my kids to be able to have the same wonderful memories of shows like I was lucky enough to have, and memories of crap shows are just not fair to them at all.
